Welcome to the Innergym Newsletter!
Innergym has just celebrated it’s 6th year in business. Since we first started back in 2001, we have gone from strength to strength and now help more people than ever lose weight and stay fit, health, happy and injury free. We’ve been in business longer than any other local personal training company and with our constant instructor training program at the CHEK Institute we are able to offer better and better services each year as our skills and biomechanical knowledge grows.
In fact, not only can Innergym offer super 1-2-1 Personal Training and Weight Management but we are now able to offer high quality training to athlete’s and sport professionals too. The performance training side of our work means we now understand that training an athlete or sports professional is not simply a matter of adding more weights (due to the assumed amount of additional strength they might need because they are ‘fitter’ (again assumed)) but instead is a complex balance of movement matching (to your sport) (as opposed to standard gym work where you are encouraged to work in isolation), multi-directional work (as opposed to a standard gym’s predominantly one directional program), varying the planes, heights and ranges of motions (as opposed to the pre-defined ranges of motions set by the equipment in a gym) and neurological training to encourage the brain to speed up your muscular responses (as opposed to simple muscle based exercises which won’t). In addition, if your sport demands it, you will need to vary the tempos and speeds (as opposed to the controlled speeds provided by standard programs in a gym which is not functional to any sport and will not help your sporting performance) and create unpredictable environments that match your sport (versus the extremely predictable environment of a gym. If your sport is predictable then predictability will help, but we’re willing to bet that once your sport gets started, it isn’t played with a planned outcome - so why train that way?
Ultimately at Innergym we try to think more creatively about your life and what types of things you need to be fit and healthy for. If you are a new mum or a professional rugby player you both need elements of the above, but different elements and almost none of them require the types of isolated, boring, unsafe, dysfunctional types of exercises found in a conventional gym... So, if you are really looking for the best quality training by serious fitness and health professionals why not give us a call?
Thank you for reading this newsletter, we hope you found it interesting.
All the best,
Tonya Jones and all at Innergym
